1741: Poll Book

The 1741 Yorkshire poll was for a representative in Parliament, and it was held in a room of the Right Honourable Henry, Lord Viscount Morpeth, on 13 January 1741; the candidates were George Fox (Tory) and Cholmley Turner (Whig). The compilers of these lists attribute any errors to the various ways of pronunciation of the same man's name in different parts of the county, and freeholders' names are generally limited to surname and one forename. Turner won, by 8,016 votes to Fox's 7,047.

I have made no attempt to correct the spellings of people or places, or to expand abbreviations.
